COVID-19 Working safely in your home

COVID-19 Working safely in your home

In this blog, we’re going to explain how we’re working to work safely in your home during COVID-19.

Here at U Fit Sash Windows Ltd. we have introduced a variety of measures to keep both our staff and customers safe whilst we survey, repair, and install your windows in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the nature of our business, there are some guidelines (like social distancing) that are more difficult to implement and stick to at all times to work safely in your home during COVID-19,  The Government has recognised this and has therefore published guidance regarding ‘Working safely during COVID-19 in other peoples home’. You can find the published document HERE

PPE Used to Work safely during COVID-19 with Ufit Sash Windows

At U Fit Sash Windows Ltd. and for all companies nationally, we have a legal responsibility to protect our staff from risk to their health and safety. This means that we all need to be aware of the risks we face and actively introduce practical measures to minimise them both for our staff and customers. Essentially, both staff and customers alike, need to assess and manage the risks of COVID-19 and take action to minimise risk and prevent potential transmission. We have therefore implemented a practical framework of risk assessment and measures for us all to follow to consciously consider the safety of everyone.

Following guidance published by HSE.gov.uk we have devised a risk assessment to ensure that all staff are aware of the correct government guidelines when surveying, repairing and installing your products.

In the context of COVID-19 this means working through these steps in order:

  • Increasing the frequency of hand washing and surface cleaning, in our showroom and office. We have also provided our window-fitters with portable water dispensers and antibacterial handwash to encourage more frequent hand washing. They have also been provided with hand sanitizer, PPE (gloves and facemasks) that will be worn at all times. We have also supplied our window-fitters with antibacterial cleaning products so that they can clean your finished windows/door that they have had to touch before leaving your property.

  • We will make every reasonable effort to comply with the social distancing guidelines set out by the government (keeping staff 2m apart wherever possible in our showroom and office). We have taken the decision to keep our showroom closed to encourage this, however you can call us on 020 7965 7299 and book a virtual tour of our showroom!

  • We encourage our staff to use back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face-to-face) whenever possible. We ask that you recognise the difficulty of this always being the case when having to transport and fit heavy windows and doors.
  • Staff are briefed daily and any changes to guidelines will be communicated in an effective and timely matter.

Whilst we have now implemented the above measures to minimise the risk of transmission within our organisation and staff, we also need to consider and communicate the clear steps that will need to be taken by our customers.

UFIT SASH WINDOWS Working safely in your homes COVID 19 CHECKLIST

Working safely in your home, these steps include:

    • Deep cleaning of areas our staff will be working at before arrival.
    • Communicating with you prior to our visit to discuss how the work will be carried out and to minimise the risk for all parties.
    • Maintaining social distancing as far as possible. This may mean opening the front door to our staff and then relocating to a different room or location in the house so that our staff can work at a safe distance.
    • NO work should be carried out in a household that is isolating because one or more family members have symptoms.
    • If one of our team is coming to survey and give you a price, please allow them to do so from the outside of your property (if possible) and ensure that you are a minimum of 2m distance away from them. All discussions and meetings about your requirements and pricing will need to be had outside or in a well-ventilated area at the point of surveying.
    • Please do not be offended if a member of staff asks you to keep your distance as it is for your sake as well as theirs.

Please familiarise yourself with the above measures that U Fit Sash Windows Ltd. staff, as well as our customers, will need to take in order to ensure that we will be able to work in your home. The above measures will be discussed with you before our arrival to ensure that all measures are understood and will be followed succinctly. Please note, that whilst we have and will continue to introduce measures published through government guidelines, we unfortunately, cannot and will not be able to completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19, so please do consider this when requesting that we visit your property.

If any of the above is unclear and you would like to discuss further about how we work safely in homes during COVID-19 or ask any questions, please do not hesitate to call us on 020 7965 7299 or Email us HERE

We hope that all of our customers past, present and future are keeping safe and we will keep you updated with any changes made to guidelines!
